Unfunded Research Projects:

 

2015                       (Funding Pending. – The Role of Patient As Educator in Mental Health (with Mary-Jane Esplen, Paula Ravitz, David Wiljer) focuses on inviting/coaching volunteer  patients with 5 mental health diagnoses to video-record their stories. Teaching modules for residents in psychiatry will be created and tested, based on a review of best practices in the Patient as educator movement.

 

2015-16                  Unfunded. A Review of Health Humanities Teaching In Canadian Psychiatric Residency Programs (with Anna Skorsewska, MD) –will survey all postgraduate psychiatry programs in Canada on their current offerings, future plans, perceptions of efficacy and obstacles in such humanities-based teaching.

 

2015-17                  Unfunded. The Health Humanities In Canadian Medical Schools-a National Survey  with Natalie Beausoleil PHD (Memorial University) and Monica Kidd MD (University of Calgary) utilizes questionnaires and interviews of key informants in medical humanities teaching at each of the medical schools in Canada to explore successes/obstacles/possibilities relevant to incorporating humanities-based content into the medical curriculum.
