Membership

MaHRC membership categories:

Core Member: This category includes faculty researchers from the University of Toronto whose principal “research” affiliation is with MaHRC; in consequence, he/she cannot be a Core Member of more than one Centre or Clinic defined and dedicated to research.

Associate Member: This category includes faculty researchers from the University of Toronto or one of the affiliated laboratories (organizations), with significant research affiliation with MaHRC; researchers may be Associate Members of more than one Research Centre in any associated university or organization.

Affiliate Member: This category includes industry partners, community-based clinicians, music professionals, adjunct professors, faculty members from non-associated organizations, and visiting researchers. Affiliate members are not eligible for MaHRC internal funding and cannot sponsor student members.

Post-doctoral/graduate student member: This category includes any graduate students or post-doctoral fellows within the University of Toronto or graduate students or post-doctoral fellows under the supervision of MaHRC Members or Associate Members of Affiliated Organizations, where the graduate students or post-doctoral fellows are working on a research project that is within the mandate of the Collaboratory.

To apply for membership:

Researchers seeking Core or Associate membership within MaHRC must submit their full curriculum vitae with a cover letter explaining their interest in joining the Collaboratory and two letters of support from Full or Associate members to MaHRC’s Executive Committee for review. Selected candidates are required to present their work to MaHRC’s research community before a final recommendation is made to the Board.

Researchers seeking Affiliate membership must submit their full curriculum vitae, a letter of intent and two letters of sponsorship from MaHRC Core or Associate Members to the Executive Committee for review. The ratification of nominations for new Core, Associate and Affiliate Members of the Centre, as well as renewals of membership, is the prerogative of the Board. Post-doctoral and graduate students from Associated Organizations seeking membership must be sponsored by one of MaHRC’s Core or Associate Members, and must be working on a research project that is within the mandate of the Collaboratory.

The term for Core, Associate, and Affiliate MaHRC membership is up to three years, renewable. The term for Post-doctoral/Graduate Student membership is up to two years, renewable. Renewals will be recommended to the Board following a review by the Executive Committee. Members will have to present a renewal application highlighting their publications, presentations, performances, recordings and collaborative activities within MaHRC over the past three years, and a cover letter explaining their interest in renewal.
